Lecture on Pope Francis’ document – Amoris Laetitia

At 7:00 p.m. on Thursday 23 November 2017 there will be a public lecture at the St Columba Centre, 40 Vermont Street, Ponsonby.

The topic is Pope Francis’ document on the family, Amoris Laetitiathe Joy of Love, which was the product of two synods of bishops discussing the subject of the family. This lecture will seek to answer questions such as:

  • What are the main topics of the document that need to be investigated deeply in order to understand the Pope’s message?
  • How can we implement Amoris Laetitia in our local Church?
  • What are the challenges that our families are facing and how can Amoris Laetitia help us through these?

The lecturer Dr. Rocio Figueroa is originally from Peru, and completed her Bachelor’s degree in theology at the Pontifical Faculty of Theology in Lima. Her doctorate in theology is from the Gregorian University in Rome. She has previously lectured and worked in Peru, Italy, and Mexico. During her time in Rome she was also in charge of the Section on Women’s Issues in the Vatican. She is currently Lecturer in Theology at Good Shepherd Theological College, Auckland.

There will be a light supper served after lecture.
