How did you learn about GSC?
From different sources I heard about the theology evening courses offered, and as I worked close to GSC at Ponsonby, I decided this would be an excellent opportunity to acquire some more knowledge of the Church and my Catholic faith.
What were you doing before being a fulltime student?
I had a shop in Birkenhead
for shoe repairs, key cutting, trophies and engraving services, which
I closed in December 2004, consequently I was able to spend more time
in studying combined with part time work as a pastoral assistant in
our Parish communities.
Why are you studying at GSC?
For the simple reason that I love the Catholic Church with her rich tradition and history. My faith is very valuable and important to me; with more understanding and knowledge my wish is to bring also other people closer to God and help them discover God's abundant love through the body of Christ to which they belong or have an opportunity to belong to.
What is your impression of the place?
GSC offers:
- A peaceful and welcoming place
- Professional, dedicated and enthusiastic lecturers
- Fantastic library and librarian help
- Variety of focussed students
- Small and interactive classes
It feels like a faith-filled and Catholic place
Do you have any suggestions?
Create a higher profile and promote the place as being the theological college for the Catholic Church of New Zealand, especially at present when there is such a great need for educated lay people to take on leadership and pastoral roles in the parishes where the community needs extra help. Maybe extramural courses could be set up.
