After school I studied Marketing and Management at the University of Waikato and then worked as a project manager in various design/advertising agencies at their offices in Auckland, Wellington and London.  Later I changed tack and worked for a theatre company as part of the team co-ordinating events in the Civic, Auckland Town Hall and Aotea Centre.

For the last few years I set that aside to focus on being mum to school-aged boys, Matthew and Jacob.  While they are at school, I am here to assist at Good Shepherd College.

My interests are very much aligned with my boys in that I spend an inordinate amount of time gaming (Minecraft, Terraria, Starview Valley) and playing boardgames (Settlers of Catan, 7 Wonders, Splendor).  Outside of that I enjoy reading, the adrenalin rush of indoor cycling, sci fi, cinema, theatre and inspired by a current student have recently planted my first vegetable and flower gardens.

Research Interests:
As a mother of children who have learning difficulties, I am particularly interested in exploring alternative ways to learning that are not currently adopted in New Zealand’s Education System, but have greater acceptance in America, UK and Canada.  My eldest boy is fortunate to be benefiting from using these different learning styles via a teacher aide we employ who has been trained in them, and we meet monthly with a New York trained specialist to continually adapt and employ new strategies that the school system is not yet abreast of.  Gaining a greater understanding of how the brain works and learns is a fascinating area of study to me.
